Handmade cedar planters and raised garden beds, built to order by local craftsmen in our 37-builder network. Cedar is naturally rot resistant, so it belongs outdoors — no pressure-treated chemicals where your herbs and vegetables grow, and it weathers beautifully if you leave it natural.
String Light Planter Posts — Set of 4
Our first planter in the national lineup. Each one is a solid cedar planter box (20 in. x 20 in. x 12 in.) with a tall fir post — the post is screwed solidly into the box; fill it with soil and plants once it is in place, and the filled box adds weight that helps keep it steady. No digging, no concrete, no permanent holes in your yard. String café lights from post to post and the whole patio changes.

- Delivered empty; fill with soil after placement — the post is screwed in, the soil just adds weight

Why cedar for planters and raised beds?
Cedar's natural oils resist rot and insects without chemical treatment, which makes it the right wood anywhere soil and water sit against it day after day. A cedar planter or garden bed can live outside for years with no finish at all — the wood slowly weathers to a silver-gray — or you can oil it (our teak oil finish) to keep the warm color and add a layer of weather protection. Either way there is nothing to peel, because there is no paint film on it.
How ordering works
- Order here — enter your address at checkout and we match you with the builder nearest you.
- Your builder builds your set — made to order, to the same standard spec, in their own shop.
- Delivery or pickup — delivery is a flat fee by distance, shown at checkout. Pickup is free at your builder's shop, or at another location you and your builder agree on.
Planters travel empty. Set them where you want them first, then fill with soil and plant — a filled planter is heavy, and the soil adds weight that helps keep it planted — the post itself is screwed into the box.
