Life around Lake Murray involves a lot of entertaining — dock parties, backyard weddings, neighborhood gatherings, and weekends that end with everybody on somebody's patio. The drink station for most of those events is a folding table, and it looks like one. Our portable event bar is the fix. It is a full-size, handcrafted bar standing 41 inches tall, standard bar height, that gives your event a finished look and then breaks down flat when the guests head home.

The bar is built from MDF panels over an internal frame, with an interior shelf behind the counter for bottles, glassware, and supplies. The entire structure comes apart into five flat pieces using lift-away hinges. No tools are needed and there is no hardware to lose. It packs flat, fits in most SUVs and truck beds, and stores in a slim space in the garage or boathouse — a real advantage for lake homes where storage is always spoken for. Details and finish options are on the 5-foot collapsible bar product page. Hosts often ask how it holds up during a busy event: the counter is wide enough for two people to work behind it, the shelf keeps backup bottles and mixers out of the way, and the bar sits steady on grass, decks, and patios.

Two sizes are available. The 5-foot bar runs $800 painted white or black, or $700 raw if you prefer to finish it yourself. If you enjoy projects like this, the wider version is also sold as 6-foot DIY build plans for personal use. The 6-foot bar is $950 painted and $850 raw. Every bar is made to order, so yours is built for your event instead of pulled from a stack. Mobile bartenders around Chapin and the Columbia area use them at weddings and private parties, and lake-area hosts buy them because a summer on Murray means the bar gets used most weekends. Painted finishes touch up easily when they need freshening.

Chapin-area orders are built by a local craftsman in The Wobbly Carpenter network, in his own shop nearby. Read more on our Chapin builder profile page. Built by a local craftsman in The Wobbly Carpenter network. Every builder signs our craftsman agreement, and insurance and background check are verified before their first build. Because the bar is built close to home, there is no freight bill for shipping furniture and no long wait on a delivery truck from three states away.

Pickup is free once the bar is ready, and delivery is available within 40 miles of the builder's shop — covering Chapin, Irmo, Lexington, and much of the Lake Murray and Columbia area. Since each bar is made to order, ordering a few weeks before your event is the safe play. For lake season in Chapin, a real bar that stores flat is easy to justify. Across the Georgia line, our Newnan page covers the southwest Atlanta suburbs; fellow lake hosts also check Livingston, Texas.
